There is an essential difference between the decease of the godly and the death of the ungodly. Death comes to the ungodly man as a penal infliction, but to the righteous as a summons to his Father’s palace. To the sinner it is an execution, to the saint an undressing from his sins and infirmities. Death to the wicked is the King of terrors. Death to the saint is the end of terrors, the commencement of glory.

  1. Great quote. I have been to both types of funerals, and there sure is a big difference. I’ll never forget one funeral I went to for a 2 year old girl. As you can imagine how difficult this would be for the parents, yet in spite of it all they were dancing and praising God around their daughters casket. Thank God there is hope in the death of the righteous.

  2. My heart is gladdened once more. No wonder the bible records that ‘the house of mourning is better than the house of pleasure”, eccl 7 vs 2. May we never lack the abundance of God’s grace that brings us such eternal hope. Amen!
