Are you a long term laborer?

The body of Christ is looking for vessels with not just power but purity of heart and radical obedience to Jesus Christ. We don’t need people anointed for a few months to lead short-lived revivals, but long-term laborers who grow in power and authority and serve God faithfully till He comes.

Thy Will Be Done

“The deepest spiritual lessons are not learned by His letting us have our way in the end, but by His making us wait, bearing with us in love and patience until we are able honestly to pray what He taught His disciples to pray: Thy will be done. Acceptance of whatever this means is the great victory of faith that overcomes the world.”

“When the will of man comes across the will of God, one of them has to die.”

Trials and Tribulations

Trials and tribulations are very good for us in that they help us to know ourselves better than we knew ourselves before. —D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones

Because of His Majesty and Omnipotence

Do little things as though they were great, because of the majesty of Jesus Christ who does them in us, and who lives our life: and do the greatest things as though they were little and easy, because of His omnipotence.

The fruit of the Spirit

The fruit of the Spirit is not push, drive, climb, grasp and trample…Life is more than a climb to the top of the heap.

The reason for negligence in study

Here, then, is the real problem of our negligence. We fail in our duty to study God’s Word not so much because it is difficult to understand, not so much because it is dull and boring, but because it is work. Our problem is not a lack of intelligence or a lack of passion. Our problem is that we are lazy.

Grant Me, O Lord

Grant me, O Lord, to know what I ought to know,to love what I ought to love, to praise what delights Thee most, to value what is precious in Thy sight, to hate what is offensive to Thee. Do not suffer me to judge according to the sight of my eyes, nor to pass sentence according to the hearing of the ears of ignorant men; but to discern with a true judgment between things visible and spiritual, and above all, always to inquire what is the good pleasure of Thy will.

-Thomas a Kempis-

Forgiveness

We do not have to make ourselves suffer in order to merit forgiveness. We simply receive the forgiveness earned by Christ … we earn our forgiveness with our repentance, but in the gospel we just receive it.

Providence and our times

I thank God for the Unseen Hand, sometime urging me onward, sometimes holding me back; sometimes with a caress of approval, sometimes with a stroke of reproof; sometimes correcting, sometimes comforting. My times are in his hand.
